Description

Famous game between Gennan Inseki and Shusaku. (Shusaku was then 17 years old and 4 dan. Gennan on the other hand was close to 50 years old, an established 8 dan, and head of the House Inoue) It was a great privilege for Shusaku to play Gennan. At move 127, all the spectators still thought Gennan was winning. Only a doctor, watching the game, disagreed. When pressed to give his opinion, he said "I don't know much about go". Upon seeing move 127, Gennan's ears flushed red. That was a sign of him being upset. The move must have taken him by surprise. Shusaku went on to win the game, and in the analysis move 127 was marked as being the turning point. The deepness of the move, but especially the extraordinary observation of the doctor, made this move probably the most famous move in Go history. Red arrow pointing to move 127, the influence of this piece can be seen mapped in orange (map created using http://canut-ki-in.jeudego.org/simulation_influence/ Information from http://senseis.xmp.net/ Constructed and rendered using Bryce5 Thanks for viewing Tanc ;o)

I'm not a Bryce user and whatever Go skill I ever possessed has long since faded, but I did enjoy viewing this image :) It must have taken a lot of patience to produce this, particularly the white stones in the container. Well done indeed !

As a student I've played Go for years, so this brings up fond memories. Also outstanding modelling and composition, excellent & vote in my book.

Awesome! Unforunantely, as my interest in Hikaru no Go faded, as did my interest in Go, but I still love the game very much, and it's nice to see some great images like this! Very cool game going on there.
