Description

- Family Farm, Rural Illinois - In this case, the horse of a different color in question is me. Not this beautiful red fellow. Not the most technically thrilling of shots. But one I've always loved. I spent the first 5 years of my life growing up on this farm. Just a tow-headed country boy in bib overalls and bare feet. Riding horses and tractors and always covered in dirt. Except for meals. Hands and face were always clean for meals! Even though we "moved to town" (1500 people constitutes a town!) I still spent much of my time on the family farm. Now here I am almost a decade in the big city. Modeling and rendering and photographing high-rise buildings. Buildings that my 5-year old mind would have been hard pressed to imagine. I love every minute of it, but I'm still most at home in the country. As they say, you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. As a bit of an aside, this was from my last shoot on film. Though I tried to shoot him straight on, he knew his good side. Shooting film I could only allow myself so many shots, unlike digital where I could have banged off two dozen. In the end, I think the horse knew the shot I needed more than I did. I still think there is a softness in the background of this image that digital can't replicate. Sort of fitting, I suppose. I'll stop rambling now. Thanks for looking and comments are always appreciated.

Quite a wonderful composition and the soft grainy background compliments the overall mood quite well. Quite well done indeed!
