Description

This is another view in a series of scenes of the Discovery1 from 2001 a Space Odyssey. Alot of people have been commenting why I don't texture the ship. The answer is that I've tried to do the ship as realistically as possible from the movie. There are 3 distinct colors used on the Discovery1 from the movie and they are: white, black and gray. White being the most predominate. Remember dark colors absorb heat and radiation and sense there is no atmosphere to block this you would basically melt the ship. ;-( All renderings of this ship are as finished as possible. I hope this helps to explain why you see the ship as I have depicted. I let what light is generated natually to create the different shades of gray. The ship and all part on it are all drawn, the file alone after cleaning up the file is now just over 220 megs in size. This was created in Bryce4, hope this helps...;-) David

Wow! That is just a massive amount of detail to have modeled. My hats off to you. It looks super good. I had forgotten how white the ship was in 2001 until you mentioned it. Been awhile since I saw that flick.
