Description

These little guys are everywhere on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. They have become quite accustomed to people because of the thousands of tourists but they are still quite wild. There are signs everywhere that instructs everyone to leave them alone and don't feed them - of course, no one obeys and as a consequence a park ranger told me that they have the honour of taking 3 people a day (that's right, 3 every day) to the infirmary for squirrel bites. Sound amusing :-), the rabies shots are not all that fun. Keep your fingers to yourself when visiting the canyon please. Thank you all so very much for all your wonderful comments and I wish to thank you for taking your time to view my artistic scribblings. Your comments and suggestions are not only deeply appreciated but valued highly.

Wow, better keep a bit distance of these wild fellows! Love to see them, they are beautiful but indeed, feeding them is not wise at all! Excellent work!

Squirrels are so cute!!!! But in our area you have to worry about more then just rabies, they found plague and had to close a couple of the campgrounds down last year! Scary! But they're soooo cute!

Cute little guy, and his pose is wonderful. No wonder the tourists don't heed the signs - they're to bussy going oooh! while pointing towards the Grand Canyon to read rules about feeding squirrels. Very nice!

Awesome image and even better public safety message! I can understand why one would have to go through the shots too..I mean how could you tell which squirrel bit? Was it one that didn't carry rabies or was it not? Awesome!
