Description

Another trip out with Mauna Kea Sharky, just crusing around looking for anything interesting. We came across this well known pond area and spotted this bird. In all we saw at least 3 of these in this pond area...but alas no amount of internet searching could produce a name for this guy...I'm sure some of you birders could name this one, looks fairly common. Many thanks for having a look and your encouraging comments on my past posts. Aloha to All!

Well, I haven't seen this one before. But, then again, there are all kinds of birds in Hawaii. Another great capture. He looks kind of tired though. Wandering Tattler. Aloha

All i know for sure Dave is that its not a crow...nor a sparrow. Thats how far my knowledge about birds goes...ooooh oooh and its not an Ostrich. God knows ive been bitten enough times by those to know how they look like, LOL. Excellent capture, perfectly offcentered like that. Have a marvelous day #:O)

I was going to say that too Ilona...small heron. You cn tell by the hunched shoulders and eyes. The back tail is the same as the adult or larger ones. Anyway...it's great clarity and nicely composed.

Seems to be a heron indeed, but it might be endemic for Hawaii. Gorgeous capture, perfect DOF!
