Description

As far as I'm concerned, this is the culmination of a few months work on a water that retains it's transparency even when "seeminly" in motion. The realism is, perhaps exagerated by the selective focusing (done in post - sorry, but there's no way to achieve this particular effect in MJW - at least, not that I am aware). I'm really looking next to doing deserts where the render times are likely to be much quicker - no water!!! Please do post comments.

Maybe Fata Morgana's will slow you down in your desert renders LOL .. Seriously the PW DOF effect adds indeed to the realism of this image ! Well done !

The reaslism in this and the last render, to me, is astounding. I can imagine the render times were a wee bit high. hehe but worth the effort. Excellent work.

Excellent photorealism! Water, lighting and Pov are perfect and post work really add to it. I am waiting to see fishes jumping off the water to test also the realism of the atmo ;-)

Mmmm...another look at that superb water!....Excellent render & postwork Rob!!...It's just a thought & I could be wrong but I wonder if upping the density of the atmos a bit may give you a similar effect within MJW..(you know like less detail in distant cliffs)...It might have an adverse effect on the (perfect)light you have there, but it could be worth a try....^_^.

This is well presented with an excellent POV (Point of View) & DOF (Depth of Field). I dont think that DOF can be created by Mojo & thereore has to be postworked. That water is outstanding work. There are some great colours that are captured in the water material by using te transparency, murk opacity & reflectivity...very realistic. Excellent work Rob :)V

Thanks to all who commented on this work. It seems as though I have to bow to the wishes of the majority over the DOF issue... but being a photographer using big lenses this is the kinda image I would normally get. It was only an experiment after all.

We agree you get this DOF with a tele lens, doesnt have to be that big, depends on the aperture, you can get that norrow DOF with a 135mm. But the field of view feels more like a 35mm or even a 50mm and you do not get that sharp out of focus zone with this lenses. Well all this cause your piece tries to go with the realistic look, but it is superb either way. ;)
