Description

Some more pictures from Herodian Jerusalem-30 a.d..This is the main E-W gate into Jerusalem-the Gennath,or Garden,Gate. It goes between Jerusalem and the sea-port of Jaffa(Emmaus was also on this road). The pool was called the Amygadolon (or Towers)Pool. Golgotha was beyond it close to the City Wall beyond the 'garden'trees. The Towers are 1.Hippicus(King Herod's brother)-the base of this is still there and is called the "Tower of David". 2.Phaesal(he was King Herod's 'friend').This was modelled after the Alexandria lighthouse as Herod was a close friend of Cleopatra and Anthony.3.Mariamne he was Herod's Hasmonian princess wife who he killed in a fit of paronoia). It is modelled after tombs in the 'rose-red'city of Petra where Herod came from. The golden roofed building beyond is Herod Antipas' palace where Salome danced in the upper pavilion. The red roofed building beyond is the roof of the Sanhedron at the east of the Temple Mount where the Mosque of Omar is today. The white and golden building is the back of the Temple. The hill beyond that is Gethsemene.

Great vision, detailed modelling and composition liltawen. May I give you some tips that in my opinion would enhance your credible work? I would crank up the AntiAlias to at least "Enchanced Low", to remove those jagged edges. Another tip is to look into your shadow colour properties, and give your shadow a blue colour; as it is a strong sunlit day, therefore the shadows would have a blue tint to them. And last but not least, why not look into diffuse and specular maps, which will add more depth and realism to your textures. Overall I really like your work, as it gives us a window into the past. Well done on the modelling and fine explanation, keep up the great work my friend.

Hi there... My Name is Sergio and Im frm Brazil... Im impressed by your work... What a beautiful 3d first century jerusal you have build. All the Major buildings are there and very close to the real. Im a medical doctor and studying the suffering of Jesus Christ. Im willing to wirte an medical paper abou the pain suffered by Jesus Christ, and Im trying to make an 3d map of jerusal, just like you did. But 3d imaging is not one of my skills. So Im stucked with a 2d, aerial view of jerusal. I thought that if you want you could send me some of your images so I can use on my paper and Ill grant you the credits with your name (or not, if you dont want to), your e-mail or webpage... So, anyway... its just an idea... Whatever happen, keep up the good work. I just loved your entire gallery. You are An amazing artist. Congratulations. I love historical recreations, and only wish that this excellent and thoughtfully created picture was displayed without all of those 'jaggies'.
