Description
Outpost Delta, dubbed "The Immovable" by its 200 strong crew is an observitory station. Its currant assignment puts it a light year or so outside "Quiets" nebula. Twenty sattelites at a distance of 300,000 km, are in place around the centre which is the station itself. As you might expect, this is to watch for the "Marrie Celect"s makers/takers. Also it will study this quadrent of the sky for planetary systems, capable of being colonized.
It's rather an uneventful posting, but does allow for interesting research into astronomical phenomina. Work is also being carried out into better systems of propoltion for small to medium sized space farring craft. They tend to get the more interesting toys to play with here. The only real drawback to a posting here are that ships only dock here every two years. At least you get a great view.
Modeling done in Blender 3D 2.37a. The mat on the station is from Watchful Eye, the nebula is Bryces nebula tweaked a bit. Extra stars were added using the star mat in Complex FX, tweaked a little. I used a single radiant light for the scene, but left the Sun as an accent light.
Live the dream, but dream BIG...;)

Your space station is awesome-looking, you're a top 3D modeller! You really get a sense of isolation from your scene - something like "In space, no-on can hear you scream" - I wouldn't want to be a scientist on "The Immovable" :)

the Marie Celeste must have been a really important ship..nice mat work. keep 'em coming.
