Description
I was reading the story of Abraham almost sacrificing Issac and I was struck by the faith displayed there. , so I made a picture to portray the emotion that had to have been thick that day.

Many people might not know the story -- you might want to mention that God was testing Abraham's faith -- He told him to sacrifice his only son on the altar (as your image shows) BUT at the last moment, God told Abraham to STOP -- and Isaac was spared, not killed. The story is a poignant illustration not only of faith at that time, but also a foreshadowing of the amazing event to come: God's own willingness to allow His only son - Jesus Christ -- to be sacrificed for the sins of the whole world.

Hi, all, I seldom make comments, but as a Christian, I would like to voice my thoughts. God knows what is in our hearts. I think God wanted to show Abraham something which the latter himself did not know: that He loved God above all, even his only son born to him as God promised in his old age and long after his wife had passed child-bearing age. We see God's mercy, Abraham's obedience and Isaac's trust. Isaac knew how much he meant to his father but he learnt that God comes first for all who would live in God's blessings. In today's world, full of hatred, resentment and mistrust as evidenced in the New York twin tower attacks and London bombings, my prayer is that we will find peace, love and joy in God. May God bestow upon us all His Amazing and Gracious mercy!
