these are common in central US and I think they are a type of stink bug that releases a foul smell chemical that causes predators to leave them alone. If our resident bug experts knows the true identity please tell me

Great macro of this "stinky" bug. So good, you can see all the pollen on him. We have them in Hawaii too. Lucky you didn't get a wiff of it..Aloha
