I wrote this about 8 or 9 years ago. In that time I can't say my views have changed at all. I realize that this is a touchy and controversial subject and I have no wish to offend anyone. Therefore I will willingly remove it from the site if it gets a lot of Negative comments.
Please speak up & let me know what you think.

The comments contained in the image are NOT STRONG ENOUGH! More people have died in the name of religion than any other cause! PUT ANOTHER BOMB ON THE SCHOOLBUS!

Interesting picture composition and you do make valid points in your writing. Good expression here.

I don't see a problem with it. According to the Bible, once, many wars & deaths were carried out in Gods name...that was to get the point across. Now, in this day and age, it's just so people can justify that what "they" believe is "right". Those who carry out such acts in this day and age will find out a little too late that they were wrong in doing so in their Gods name. Anyway, like I said, I don't see a thing wrong with this...do more!

Beautiful! It speaks the truth yet to find. Man Kind would do well to look at the truth of their faiths and see that they are all made my man. Wonderful.

I'm not offended, just saddened. I'd only point out that you are painting with a very broad brush, placing a huge number of ideas and diverse things under a single banner of "religion". By doing that, it's pretty easy to be cynical and say the whole collected mass is chaotic and nonsensical. It's also easy to look at the huge problems in the world and search for something to blame it all on in one simplistic construct. Yes, people do stupid and cruel things "in God's name". Mankind is messed up, and everything mankind is involved in will have aspects of corruption, hypocrisy and failure, just as you point out in your assesment. But that doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't still a caring, perfect creator God who is much more than human: In fact, the sinful and messed up state of mankind and their subsequent need for redemption and correction is the very heart of Christian faith. I'm thankful that at least most of the world has the freedom to choose to believe whatever they want, and I for one choose to believe that there is a benevolent order and purpose to the universe that is bigger and purer than the tiny little view that our limited perspectives can perceive. If you view God as being petty and small, like us, or even like those hypocritical figures in "religions" you see all around, then you will likely conclude that "religion" is all made up by man. If you view God as infinite, pure, just, and far above our ways of understanding, then you can rest in the assurance that the universe is not chaos, and that the world is not in the fumbling hands of man.

Thank you all for your comments. I knew it would be interesting. servo; I actually agree with almost all you say. I would point out however, that I never said anything about God not existing. My words just reflect the very sad things that our species has done in the name of 'religion'. I recently heard this on TV..... "Good people have done good things and evil people have done evil things; but for Good People to do evil things....... that takes Religion." hhmmmmm...makes you think....

I found your art creative and good. I especially liked your mix of black & white, and color. Maybe I misunderstood your text; seems to me you're not blaming God, you're blaming religeon. As a Christian I believe the core concepts of the Bible, but believe man has messed it up through religeon, dogma, etc. I appreciate your comments and graphic.

Thanks, jefbem! That is exactly what I meant with my words. Thank you for your comments. Strondar.

I have to say that I agree with you. I have strong faith in God but little respect for religion. :-)

Religion is a way too, but not the right way. Religion doesn't bring man closer to God, only to man's traditions. Every religion has its own rules, and regulations, most of them flesh based. How many people have died in the name of religion. True religion Jesus said, was to take care of the orphans and the widows and to feed the poor!! I believe in that kind of religion.

I believe in Angells religion. I believe in a religion that doesn't judge or claim that theirs is the only way. Be you Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Pagan or any other of the myriad of religions in the world if you live by the basic tenants of human decency then you will be rewarded for your deeds. I've always had to laugh at the followers of certain religions that claimed you are going to burn in hell because you don't worhip their God. I wonder how they can't figure out that my God is their God with a different name and he answers to them all :o) Great work on this one, very thought provoking as is evidenced by the responses here.
