Description

This is actually a repost from my other name, cf2000. I'm working on moving my faves from that account to this one...And also, my best bud, Ferguson, asked me to repost it... This is the original story behind the painting... "Working to create the skin tones of the "Masters"...this is a reproduction of the top half of Bouguereau's Lorage (translated as The Storm). You can see the original at artrenewal.com. I have spent the good part of the last 2 weeks working on a reproduction of the entire image, but have since began working on several projects that don't allow alot of free time to work on finishing. I'm hoping that I will be able to finish the entire image soon and post it." Done completely in Photoshop 6. Thanks for peeking!

Of COURSE I would encourage you to repost this, I'm a damn genius. lol The greatest thing about this for me is that I KNOW from having seen you work on it those few years ago, that you did this whole thing freehand. That just proves you don't need to trace from an image, or use a grid, or do a photo paintover to get something right. Skill and patience, and you have it in spades, Cindy. Fantastic!!!

Funny I don't remember seeing this as well. Maybe I did and maybe I even commented....but it's amazing how soon we forget. Nonetheless it is beautifully recreated and I so love the style of Bouguereau. There's always something in the faces that draw me in...or maybe even a sadness in their eyes. Thanks for uploading this once again..:))

Truly an inspiration to those of us struggling with the digital feel of photoshop compared to real media, I can see now that it can indeed be done in the digital world. I will have to keep practicing, and practicing, and practicing...

hm, i don't recall seeing this before either... it's the tactile sense of the various fabrics that gets me and holds me fast... you've given them a reality that engages all my sense [i really like stuff that does this and t'is rare i find images that do]...
