The vines of time Spreading over stone Voices there now left alone In useless conversations made Lie dormant under silent shade And I walk slowly past to see Just where I had buried me Like sand in the hand Through fingers slip Regardless of how tight the grip While a pulse that beats no sound In bare feet over naked ground To snatch the soul that's free Up from where I buried me The grace of space Between awake and sleep Thoughts driven in so deep Into dreams now undefined To mask the shadows of the mind Of anything that was meant to be Where I should have buried me The graves like waves Could wash away That which will soon decay Beneath an earth that has no heart Keeping life and soul apart In every place I search for me Has become a cemetery
