Description

Taken at the Planes of Fame Museum (Chino Airport, California) a day before the Airshow 2005 - May 21-22 For more, see http://www.warbird-photos.com This was taken shortly before the previous F/A-18F Super Hornet photo I posted here. This is a United States Navy Legacy Flight. A Legacy flight is typically a Navy World War 2 aircraft and modern day Jet Fighter. The Air Force's version of this is called a Heritage Flight. In this shot the World War 2 era aircraft (although the Bearcat didn't see combat really in WW2, it was used in Korea heavily) Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat (N198F) and a Modern Day Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet from VFA-103 "Jolly Rogers." The USN Legacy Flight first happened in 1998 at the NAS Oceana Air Show at the show's 40th anniversary. Since then it has appeared at most major airshow around the United States! It features a civilian pilot flying a Naval Warbird and a military pilot flying a Modern Jet Fighter, both of which have gone through extensive Legacy Flight training. Camera is a Canon Rebel XT EOS 350D DSLR (8mp) with a Canon 28-105mm USM lens. Image was reduced in size.
