A Hurt Man by BrokenWings

Any man who would do less is less than a man,
Maybe I should confess things didn't work out, I ran.
But how did she know that I wouldn't kill her,
And maybe her beau for the things that they were.
The gun it was loaded and stood by the door,
My life had exploded, I couldn't take any more.
I waited three days with the buzz in my head,
I couldn't see past the haze, I wanted them dead.
But all of a sudden it ended, it was time to go,
All the pain was expended, I was over so and so.
I owe it to my son that I am still free,
I didn't use the gun, he talked sense to me.
So thank you, son, for sticking with me,
With what had begun and what couldn't be.
So, you that can hear and those that can feel,
In less than a year your heartstrings will heal.
So, what was lost, what was there to gain,
All the lives that were tossed, the answer is plain.
Save someone some heartache or save the whales,
But don't make the mistake of doing something that fails.
Written by Me, words my father said after my parents split up.
