Description

Okay, next one out the gate. This one was made at the request of a WWII vet down at the local FRA (Fleet Reserve Association) and dedicated to all of us under the gun since the dawn of our nation. We owe our lives to the vets who fought before, and we don't give them enough credit nowadays. If you like this image, I merely ask that you sit down and spend some time with a vet, find out from him or her the true hells of war and what it truly means to serve with honor in defense of all we hold dear. Image composition and postwork in PSP AE. "very nice image, but if we want to see evil all we need to do is look in a mirror." Gee, 3D, must be hard to avoid all those reflections, isn't it? As for the rest of you, thank you for your words; they're appreciated.

@Silvermage: That wasn't terrorism. That was lesser of two solutions in ending the war with Japan. The other plan would have been an invasion which could of result in millions of deaths, both Allied and Japanese. Both atomic bombs demostrated that we had the technology to wipe them out, with no risk to Allied soldiers. The thought of having no defense was one of the reasons that they surrendered. So the question to you is: Would you have preferred an invasion that would have killed millions?

Im saddened by what is happening and Im frightened by what the future may bring. Im afraid that this is only the beginning. People are afraid of even bringing up the possibilities. People are angered by bebop, 3dgod, etc because they show us things that we already know. We know that innocent people on both sides have been and are being killed. Were not animals. We are extremely hurt by these pictures because we know that there is no other alternative. This is what must be done, and even this may not be enough. (Bombing Afghanistan) We know that if this escalates it could be our lives on the line and the lives of our children. Yes, our children. These pictures drive home the fact that if we dont stop them (terrorists) it could easily be our childrens faces in pictures like these. I have a son that is over there right now, and no, he is not a baby killer, he is a scared young man who is using his strength and courage to defend freedom and Im very proud of him. So like Pauline said, people like bebop and 3dgod are entitled to their say. We need people like them, to remind us, to keep us on track, to keep us angry. ... This is fantastic work Robert. Well done!!

Of course you're getting louder, 3D. Useless noise tends to be louder. And I've seen Born on the 4th. And I've said a million times that Vietnam was a senseless war, and I'll say it a million more times. But the fact is that you don't seem to understand that there are times when there are just wars, wars that need to be fought. Read the latest commentary by Charles Krauthammer. I can see both sides of the issue and make an informed opinion; I wonder if you can, or are just so blinded and closeminded by your view? Peace is a noble thing, certes, but you don't subscribe to peace, you subscribe to appeasement. And I cannot stomach that, nor will I ever allow that to occur.

You don't have to. Your tone speaks for yourself. As I said before, read about Chamberlain. You and he are of the same stripe.

@farwanderer.. if that were true wouldn't the US have waited longer than three days. Hiroshima was enough vengence. Nagasaki was a message to the world

Silvermage. Blame Nazi Germany and it's allies for being murderers and the instigators of war for Hiroshima. Blame them again for Nagasaki for failing to give up their murderous ways after being warned.

Your message is a very true and strong one we need to stand by our vets of the past/vets of the present/future vets for they give there lives for the life we know today. I am a Proud Mother of 2 United States Marine's. Who put there live above all to defend the Honor and Freedom of our great Country against the EVIL we face a nation today. Thank you for the reminder.

all war is senseless, unless you are a corparate puppet, like our leaders.

Of course all war is senseless. But who said the human race is perfectly sensible? We try to live our lives that way, but sometimes someone gets out of line. Most of the time we deal with them by our laws and such, but there comes the time when they go to far and we must in turn do the same. War is senseless, but it's a necessary evil, and it was around long before corporations, puppets or anything like that.

Afghanistan has been at war since they were throwing rocks. 3D seems to think corporations invent them. There are many options other than war which is why we fed them, helped them, sent funds. We can't give them money for schools because they don't let their people attend, especially women. You can't give them money because the leaders keep it for themselves, aid workers can't go over to help because they are killed or arrested. It is their choice that they refuse to be civilized within their own country, they made the wrong choice by starting another war, we have no choices left other than to be forced into it. Memorable image Mitsukai.

Wars happen, and they have been happening since the beginning of history. Reason being - and I do hate to shatter your rose coloured glasses about this - is that there are bad people out there who hate you for one reason only: you are free. Many Americans take for granted their freedom, even to make complete arses out of their spoiled, sheltered selves. They conveniently forget this freedom was bought at the price of blood, and anyone calling this "fake morality" or "corparate puppet" [sic] proves just how self-centered and shallow they really are. I for one find this memorial a fitting tribute to the men and women who have given their lives or otherwise have put theirs on the line to keep this nation safe and free. Excellent work.
