Description

Since Parthius has graciously agreed to buy me the G2 plugin so I can start using SSS in my renders (we won't go into the details as to why and how he came to that decision LOL), I wanted to give him a big thankyou! After reviewing my options, I decided that the best way was to do a nice big portrait of Me for him to use as a background on his PC. He has been so busy working with Kaleigh on her skin that we haven't had time to do much together at all. Between that and it being a big thankyou for the plugin, he really won't have much choice in using it. Of course, Kaleigh is just a little possessive so he may get in a little hot water with her (hehehehe). It'll be fun to watch! Rendered in LightWave8.3 with four area lights at 2400x2400 size, 5 pass antialiasing. Rendertime was about 51hours all told. I resized to 1200x1200, then cropped out this image. I have gone to double shell eyeballs, which I think has helped (although they still need work...). Special thanks to richardson for pointing out that the bump map was way to weak on the first try (hence the repost). I'm not happy with the bump map yet, still a lot of experimenting to do to get it halfway right! Credits: TamelaJ is the source of the commercial skin used as a starting point, Parthius did my custom head morph. Big HUGZ and thanks for any comments! Kylee

Looks like you're getting there! Have to agree on the bump map though. You can see it pretty well on the body skin, but not on the face.

I'm not getting the difference in skin effect between the body(which appears to have good settings) and the face (which looks painted and has much more sheen). With sss, it'll be a moot point. hmann never looked better! Can you use the bump in negative values?....;))

Part of it is due to the difference in texture/bump resolution between the face and neck/body. When I resized the image by 50%, that seemed to disproportionately smooth the face rouphness. I normally negate my bump maps but I didn't here so that the lip creases would go in rather than out. Thanks for the feedback!!! HUGZ, Kylee

I agree with everyone else. I love everything, but the lips/smile kinda scare me. No offense. The teeth need some work.
