Description

I had an idea for an image, spent two days creating, fiddling, using volumetrics, got lost. Moved light years from the intended idea - got frustrated ('cause Mojo can do this to you), and in the end finished up with this. I don't know what it is, either! No post, but a slow render.

This is fantastic work. They look like mushrooms. Great colours and texturing. A while back I was working on a planet named Funghi. Initially it started a bit like like this but I got carried away and the displacements became huge ending in very long render times and some rendering faults. I plan to go back to fix it. Possibly the volumetrics plugin can solve some problems with it. Are these forms displacements or volumetrics? I've only experimented with volumetric clouds.

Looks like it was carved with wind and water. Nice sleek design. Something to save.

Superb colors on the mats!!....Terrain shapes look great!...Shame about the render time (sometimes it's worth the wait)...I'd say this place is well ready for further exploration!!...Excellent "volumetric" work Rob!!

Thanks for all your comments - staggering response indeed. In fact, this wasn't done with volumetrics at all, but displacements. Sorry if I misled anyone.

Great Image Rob...nice displacements & material works. I know what you mean about Volumetrics. It makes you want to tear the hardrive outta ya PC by the teeth...its soo frustrating at times! Keep practicing & eventually it will all fall into place...I hated MJT for 2 months till things "clicked" now I love it... I hope I can do the same with Vol:)

But, that wandering around in Mojoworld is part of the 'frustrating fun' and surprises it has. The end result is quite stunning and nicely balanced against the sky.
