Hmm I would almost think it were Milk Thistle , or Astragalus (sp) the bloom is very similar. The leaves are not right, must be in the family though. I have both of these in my herb garden and have taken pics my self, I think they are quite pretty. This is a very nice shot, terrific lighting, focus and composition! Thanx for sharing. 8-)

It is a beautiful photo and I would guess it's a Thistle flower, too - although I'm not sure what kind.

We call em "Tistel"..but then again im swedish. We have giant fields of these and they sure look cool now in the end of summer as they are all dying and that purple "hair" turns white as in old people. Great capture with perfect DOF! Have a great day #:O)
