Description

Here is a shot I got the other day. I got closer than I ever have to a hummingbird and he just sat there. This is one of the best and closest shots. I would have gotten closer, but he was up too high and the leaves got in the way. He looks like a baby to me, all fluffed up. Thanks for the wonderful comments you all left on my last upload, Relaxing Nisse. To tell the truth, it's not fall here yet, even though she is laying on brown leaves. Starting to feel like fall though. Still got about another month or so. I value all your comments and suggestions, so let me know what you think. Thanks for looking and have a great day! :)

WOW! This is really great! Extremely hard to get close to a hummer and even more difficult to find one not flying :-) Superb image! VOTE

Oh, these birds are to cute. When I see them first in the wilderness in the Southwestern USA, I couldn't believe how small they are. Thanks for sharing.

Humvee or something...ah well, in sweden we call them hummer...which translated into english would be lobster i reckon...sigh...bla bla bla...cant help myself from rambling. Excellent capture. I have only seen one in my life. And it was flying very fast. I didn't have a camera at that time. Glad you could get this close. Aloha

Yeah, this hummer looks fat compared to the ones that visit my garden. Great capture.

nice shot ! if he sat for a long time, he might have been digesting. hummingbirds have a high-energy diet but a slow digestive system, and so have to spend a lot of time sitting still. normally they prefer to do so in cover, where of course it is hard to capture their colours, which need to be reflecting sunlight to be visible.

What a beautiful shot. I think taking pictures of Hummingbirds is probably the most difficult in photography. For one thing they're very fast and some just seem so camer shy. Your patience here as rewarded you very well.
