I am a 30-year old American woman, married to a Portugese man, and we live happily together in Brussels, Belgium. My husband bought me my Canon IXUS 530 for Christmas three years ago, and thus a new hobby was born. Since then, I have also used a Fujifilm S9000, and received my first DSLR camera, a Canon EOS 40D for my 30th birthday.
I have a BA in World Religions and East Asian Studies. My other interests include crochet, role-playing, cats, language studies, poetry, cooking, collecting prayer beads, and so much more. I have found the Renderosity community to be a delightfully warm and helpful group of people. With your continued support, I am learning more every day. Please visit my online gallery (and leave a note in the guestbook so I know you dropped by): http://www.transientangel.net

a Belgian grass hopper? (may be, but they also appear over here from time to time, so they definitely can move...;-))

Wonderful macro (rubs neck agressively from turning head side-ways to see insect horizontally:-) - might consider a horizontal presentation for us old guys not to break our necks :-) Superb image!

Remarkable bug, yes, we need Jeroen! Great capture, bright green as it is!

diomedes66, that's exactly how he was standing, upside down. I thought it accentuated his bizarre appearance. Sorry about the neck cramp. :) Thank you all for your comments! Is Jeroen a bug expert? :)

Jeroen (Enmos at RR) is certainly a bug expert. I'm pretty sure it's a Bush-cricket, but I don't know which species, but I suspect Jeroen can help with that if he comes by... Great find!

Very curious animal. Your macro must be excellent for having such a detail quality on an insect which, I guess, must be quite small...
