Description

Todays installment in my series from Lofoten, a small group of islands far north in Norway. This picture is straight from the camera (well, it's been resized, slightly sharpened, and frame added (obviously), but that still counts as straight from the camera in my book...). When I said that yesterday's picture had been slightly desaturated, Rozanne wanted to see the original - I won't show you the original, but I'll explain what was wrong with it: if you look at this picture, you can see that part of the water (all the way at the back) is a very intense blue. It's not a problem in this picture, since most of the water has got a more natural color - but in yesterday's shot every single drop of water had that intense blue color (even more intense actually) - and it simply didn't look natural - at all! This picture shows a mountain which I don't remember the name of. It's really just a bump on a ridge leading up to a higher peak (it's still got a name though, I just can't remember it). Name or no name, this picture illustrates what the terrain up there is like almost everywhere. The sea ends in a band of flat land used for farming (or sometimes directly in a mountain), and beyond the farms there's always a steep mountain with grass clinging to everything but sheer cliffs. 'Nuff said - enjoy!

Nice scene. Reminds me of many places around my area. Full on colour seems to work best for this type.

Hard to correct some exposures to get them as natural as the landscape really was! But it's nevertheless a joy for the eye!

Well, I love the colours and light in this. It's the kind of Northern light that doesn't exist where I am. I also like the myriad of different lines. Some across, some up and down. I will get to this place eventually!
