My name is Paul, I live in Adelaide (Australia), and I'm just about to hit the big four-o. I spend way too much time using 3d applications like Poser and ZBrush2. Being a (no-postwork) realism nut, I have developed a number of realism tools for Poser, and the skin shader scripts for Poser are avaialble here at Renderosity.BIOA couple of useful links...

I'm using 2 monitors as well, but it really doesn't matter what monitor you have, Paul. Web display is hit-and-miss. If the viewers don't have the same type of color display, or if their monitors are older (faded picture tube or backlight), chances of them seeing exactly what you do are slim. Someone, for instance, can have their monitors set at a higher contrast than you, or lower brightness, and that would change how they see it. Forget about it. It's not like color calibrating your monitor for print or video output. ;-) As for the image here, it looks great. I think the crotch area and tops of shoulders are a bit dark, but the overall skin color and texture are great! I have to disagree with you about the spotlight filler giving the same effect as an IBL. Notice the dark outline under the buttocks and to the inside of her right arm. IBL would take care of this much better, as it appears too harsh with just a spot filler.

Nice Butt - Great Colors

Very nicely done indeed.

There's just something spot on about a nice, good ass! :)

Wonderful render, as always.

This looks just perfect on one of my monitors - the one I trust more. :-) I have to agree with maxxxmodelz about the fill light. In the old days of P4, I placed lots of lights to simulate all kinds of light scattering, including sub surface (wich BTW I didn't know about, I just noticed that a slight redish fill light made the shadows look warmer and more realistic on skin). IBL saves me a lot of time and effort.

That's a great study of the shoulderblade/erector. Long and wrapping lines...Reduced hip, knees ankles...superfine. Nice thing about no IBL is preview is closer to render and less guesswork.

Excellent pin-up, looks great on my monitor.

Paul, again the way you light and use your own kits is amazing and again it's causing me to have a rethink of my own approach. The only thing that bugs me is the light on the lower legs seems a little harsh compared to how it lights the upper body but it's a minor quibble. If you and the family are ever in Melbourne we should get together for a coffee in St.Kilda, then I could pick your brain. Just a little bit.

It looks like a long walk to the beach! :) I'm not sure about PCs--most Winblows don't have good cal tools with the system (maybe XP does? I forget)--but Macs have had decent display calibration as part of the control panel for many years... but the average user won't have used it, much less adjusted for different ambient lighting, age of display, etc. I often use two displays for increased real estate, and have noticed that LCD displays cannot match a fair CRT for color and dynamic range... There is so much variation in systems, as well as in human perspective, to say nothing of taste. Is short, don't fret the small stuff! :D
