Thought I would put this on as its the anniversary of V J day.This emplacement though is at St Malo in Brittany and the damage probably done sometime after D Day.Looks a bit personal.

That big hole would have housed an anti-tank cannon. Those walls are also probably close to 4 inches thick of solid steel armour. The reason it looks like the holes are "splashed" in is because the projectiles were very hot and travelling with such force that the metal litterally melted away then re-solidified very quickly.
