Description

Alas, poor Sardonicus, the long deceased ruler of a a once magnificent world where music and art flourished uninhibited (due to the benevolence and character of his 11 predecessors). You see, unlike the 11 before, he was not posessed of either an artistic eye, nor a musical ear; his strugglings with a lyre would evoke comments from his father- "Sardonicus, what you wrench from that instrument is filled with foul notes, and wreaks of fresh garbage!" His attempts at sketches and paintings (all one thousand, nine hundred and eighty four to be exact) were equally dismal. He soon had a strong contempt for those in the realm who easily surpassed his meager skills. And so, in time, the young ruler took his place on the throne; but without having a line on what cultivates creativity in his people, their spirit was dulled, and his whole world became as a-tonal and color blind as he. At the end of his reign, he was layed to rest...but, rest he has never had. For he dreams the dark dreams of the dead, haunted by those whose talents he ignored and wasted. In his ethereal tomb-dream, he strums his rusted lyre and imagines the grinning gargoyles are his eager audience. Bryce 5, Max 6, Terragen, Poser; the gargoyles are pictures from the web; Apo 2 fractal, Lunarcell and Photo Shop. The lyre is from Baumgarten Ent. I modelled the arch. This was put together entirely in PS, and is not a single render from any one program. Lighting and shadows were done in Photo Shop. Hope you got a clue and a chuckle from the terrible fractured story. Leave a comment if you like.

This is a unique picture. Reminds me of something you'd see in a Tim Burton film. I like the colors and the lighting.

Ooooh! I love the story almost as much as the representation! Poor Sardonicas. Laughing at choronr's comment. Sometimes I feel like him. Void of creativity. When my Muse sleeps I am miserable.
