Description

I was out walking around our property this afternoon, and came across this little caterpillar. He was so still, he could have been sleeping. After several shots, I thought how nice it would be if he were on the TOP of that wide blade of grass so that I could get even a better shot. I could NOT believe, for one thing, how HARD it was .. he himself was hard, and his grip on that thing was so strong; and whats worse is, its prickly thingies poked my finger and now I have a sore finger. I just hope it's not poisonous or rabid or something. Maybe I should stick with shooting cats! *LOL* Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!! :))) Shari :o)

LOL!! Its a saddleback... and all it will do is make u hurt. Ive gotten stung by them tons - we raise passionvine and they love it. But think of it this way... thats it defense mechanism so it can turn into a beautiful butterfly soon. Awesome pic!!

Excellent macro, but a creepy bug. He looks like he comes with his own foliage. ;)

Defense mechanisms like these work pretty effective - you'll be warned to poke it next time, and that's how nature works, but it's usally more pleasant to learn it by reading books than the hard way! :( If it were just antenna's it would be able to listen to a lot of programs! :)
