Description

I just wanted to touch base with everyone, yes, I'm still alive. This is another picture of my ducks. I had raised 10 ducklings for a friend who wanted them for her pond. I released them about 2 weeks earlier. I had one very special to me "Dirty Face" he was killed after the first couple days by a turtle, 3 days later the second was taken. Well, long story short, my ducks are home, and as you can see, very happy. My friend was suprized that my ducks walked right into a cage for me (as they couldn't even get close) and as I talked to them they settled down and started to fall asleep. I won't let them go back until I'm sure the danger has passed, so right now they are very, very happy at home. Anyway, I miss you all and the 16 hours a day will only last 2 1/2 months, so hang in there and remember me! ~hugs~ Susan

First thing I thought of when I saw this picture was that stupid insurance commercial where the duck says "Aflack"! But these ducks are pretty. Have you ever had to clip their wings so they wouldn't fly away?

What a nice story Susan. I didnt know you were a duck lover. Strange that a turtle can eat a duck...huh ? Glad that they are home, safe and sound. (((HUGS))) for you AND the ducks. :-)

Wow! Look at all that action, right there in one shot! Wings beating, heads shaking, preening... I want to know: What kind of fresh water turtle eats full grown ducks??? Snappers? BIG snappers?

they do look contented. sounds like they have imprinted on you ? sad about the turtle problem. a lot of people dont realise how many species of turtles/terrapins, even small ones, will attack waterbirds. not nice. but this is a very nice pic !

It doesn't take much of a turtle, they pull them down with their weight and drown them. Live and learn.....I never knew it before now.
