Description

This is the bayou behind my favorite cemetery. Yes, I like cemeteries very much. I feel at home there. How peaceful can you get? Beautiful as well. I didn't take this shot myself, but I was present and I don't think Brian (melizod) will mind as this is just behind my wife's grave. Seconds after he took the shot, a large alligator lunged in the water a few feet from where he stood. It didn't take him long to take his leave. Thank you for looking, and for anything you might suggest. May your brains spew brilliant ideas all over everything. ken

I have no words for this one. Other than it is beautiful, and thank you for sharing the story behind the picture.

I have seen this exact scene, several times, in person. I used to take the tiny fish I caught, stun then by slapping them against the bottom of the boat (Don't hate me!) and toss them into the water, feeding the Herons. I got them to come within a couple feet of the boat! The sound that their wings make at that close range is profound. I had two, at one point, fighting over the freebies! They are marvelous creatures to watch. Thank you for sharing this, and bringing back those wonderful memories!

Familiar--stealthy you were--to get the quiet catch before the godawful squawk and ungainly pterosaurian flight....
