Description
Well...some of you know I'm from The Netherlands, also known as Holland. And when talking about Holland, most tourists think of windmills and wooden shoes.
To start this little series (for which I will post a pic every now and then) I've choosen one of the classic highlights: the famous windmills of Kinderdijk. You'll find 19 windmills near this little village which is just a few kilometers east of Rotterdam. These windmills were put on the world Heritage List of the UNESCO in 1997. But also the surrounding region called 'Alblasserwaard' is known for it's beauty and 'typical Dutch landscapes'. Keep this in mind when visiting Holland / The Netherlands....

Glad the Alblasserwaard was not flooded when the threat of water of the rivers was there a few years ago - there's still a lot of interesting places to be shown, fortunately! Beautiful capture!

I know this place so well.. lived almost in the shade of these windmill when I was a young boy. And I still like the scene very much.. This picture represents the famous mills very good..

Nothing like photographing what you know, as the best place to captue the best. Here is a wonderful example. This view is nostalgic to me of some excellent moments with family. I am certain I visited this area. I loved the Netherlands! Thank you for sharing!
