Description

No special story with this one. Was thinking of the time right after WWII in the late forties. The British created the Land Rover in response to the successful adaptation of the Jeep from wartime to peacetime. A few were imported to the US but they never could catch up to the Jeep and in North America remained mostly a curiosity. The Rovers like the Jeeps of the time, were very basic vehicles but very versitle. This model is a pickup version but there were any number of models and variations. Their market was mostly in the remenants of the British Empire and in the Commonwealth countries. They were highly adaptable and all manor of other farm and industrial equipment was created to be used with them, such as plows and other farm equipment and they were often used as if they were a farm tractor, then used as a regular vehicle by the family when the farm or ranch work was done. I believe one role in which they were used was as a trenching machine. An amazing vehicle--and one of my favorites! ****************************** Credits: Adult African Elephants and Giraffes: modeled and textured by Silverkey3d. I like this model. Tough rugged and virtually rust proof. One rumor I heard is that they were also improvised washing machines. Load a drum full of clothes, water and detergent and drive off road for about 20 miles. :)
