Description

Survivors there were none. The dull resonance of the shots the Martians fired, and the clumsy projectile whirling over the trees and houses and smashing amid the neighbouring fields.

One may picture, the sudden shifting of the attention, the swiftly spreading coils and bellyings of that blackness advancing
headlong, towering heavenward, turning the twilight to a palpable darkness, a strange and horrible antagonist of vapour striding upon its victims, men and horses near it seen dimly, running, shrieking, falling headlong, shouts of dismay, men choking and writhing on the ground, and the swift broadening-out of the opaque cone of smoke. And then night and extinction--nothing but
a silent mass of impenetrable vapour hiding its dead.

Once the tumultuous upheaval of its dispersion was over, the black smoke clung so closely to the ground, even before its precipitation, that fifty feet up in the air, on the roofs and upper stories of high houses and on great trees, there was a chance of escaping its poison. The man who escaped at the former place tells a wonderful story of the strangeness of its coiling flow, and how he looked down from the church spire and saw the houses of the village rising like ghosts out of its inky nothingness.

When black smoke had served its purpose, Martians cleared the air of it again by wading into it and directing a jet of superheated steam that hissed against the walls, smashed all the windows it touched

The composition of the Black Smoke which the Martians used with such deadly effect remains a puzzle. The terrible disasters at the Ealing and South Kensington laboratories have disinclined analysts for further investigations upon the latter. Spectrum analysis of the black powder points unmistakably to the presence of an unknown element with a brilliant group of three lines in the green, and it is possible that it combines with argon to form a compound which acts at once with
deadly effect upon some constituent in the blood.

H.G. Wells 1898

Martian War Machines modeled by me in Cinema 4D
There are some subtle Vue 5 Infinite ecosystems here - fruits (cabbages, grapes, apples), litter (leaves, papers)
Buildings Meshes by Alain Gracia - textured and upgraded by me (ex. completely remodeled roofs)
(Those buildings models are available on e-on's Cornucopia 3D)
Market - free Rolduc model - materials upgraded by me.
Horse, carriage and some small props by DAZ3D
Dead men - Poser 5 male
Other small props from 3D Cafe and DeEspona/Taschen

This time I did not made a lot of modeling, but setting of everything, texturing, lighting of the scene and characters posing took quite a long time.

I hope you'll like it :-)

This is my last one before holidays !
I will spent next two weeks in Tunisia, we will also pay a short visit to Khadafi (to check if he really stopped tinkering on his atomic bomb) :-))
Wish me luck ! I hope to return in one piece ;-))

Definitely deserves a vote. Outstanding attention to details, well balanced composition and superb lighting. Your textures are incredible, but somehow the poses of the figures seem a little odd.

It's good to see work that's not based on sexy woman. I'm a painter that is paint and canvas so I dot know much about these programs but it looks good to me.
