Your art is fine: But the price of gas isn't that simple. Oil doesn't become gasoline by iteself. Around 20% of America's refineries were affected by the hurricane -- the region hit by the storm is where a great deal of raw oil is processed. Prices go up as a result of supply and demand -- the supply has been massively affected, and those refineries will not be repaired instantly. Companies who buy gasoline from refineries for service stations are competing with each other to buy up the remainder,in order to have enough for their customers -- driving the price up. Is there price gouging? Sure, in some places: But usually that's the local gas station owners themselves. It's a natural disaster, and we're all affected by it indirectly. It's easy to just say big companies are bad. But big companies are made up of people with families to feed, and massively damaged infrastructure to repair.

The question is, when things are back to normal will gas prices go back to where they were before, or will the oil companies and the gas stations just keep prices at their current inflated levels to pad their own pockets? This wouldn't even be happening if it wasn't for big oil dragging its heels as far as developing alternative sources of energy. The oil companies are all about profit and control. You can't start a war over solar or wind.

The point I was trying to make was that suplies can be withheld and demands can be created so as to inflate prices. Remember that the oil baroans have no sense integrity and of justice, after all they were the biggest players in getting "Dubya" in the whitehouse

very cool image and sure understand your frustration at the price of oil. The price of fuel goes up, then the price of EVERYTHING goes up. When that happens, our economy plummets even more. not only do we pay more for gas, but we also pay more for groceries, household items, and pretty much everything. Already at the restaurant i work at, servers are noticing a BIG drop off in their earnings. Tips are not nearly as good. Plus business is down at the restaurant anyway. People start getting hit with higher prices, they cut back...go out to eat less, maybe not tip as much. It's affecting us at work for sure. and that's just one aspect of the whole situation. i'm so sleepy. sorry...all i can manage to say right now. Glad you posted this! :)
