Description

O)Taken in St Joe, Michigan . When my Grandparents first met in the 1930's.,. they met at a dance Hall at a beach carnival place -adorned with rides- rollecoasters and ferris wheels (over looking the great lake of Michagan That looks to me like the ocean with its waves...)- and dancing..dance halls were the big thing of the time.. I belive the park was built in the early 1900's .. Then there was a beautiful carosal. My Grandparentsmet near it and danced together there..and fell in love! The place was magical place to my Mother when she was a child. She could go on rides for a few pennies. I have seen pictures ... and even seen the old ticket stubs...LOL hanging on the wall at this hamberger joint in town ( oh mann they have these great burgers they put green olives on them there got me addicted to eating burgers with green olives now I have to go buy them and stick them on LOL)... It was such a grand place, full of excitement and summertime beachside fun!. Years passed. IT got old. ...and, they tore it down in the 60's .. the beach and pier remained but the days of seaside rides and dancing were gone .. A few years back the town got together and decided to build a brand new carosal . THe real one the old fashion kind. IT would takelotdsa money. A real pipe organ. SO they came up with a plan. 50 horses to be painted and deocrated in differant syles with themes. All the artists from all over did thier best to paint and be creative . They were not real carosal horses but to be sold so that one could be bought and built. They adorned the town for the last year and people traveled for miles to see them. and I shot all 50 . I won't show you all the pict s of these horses and bore you -just a few I like . But for now, here is the head of an Ariel Little mermaid horse that was my daughter's -Janels personal favorite. it had a treasure chest dumping out jewles on the bottom of it and even red fins on its feet. Then sabastion the crab ..hehe. I have the bigger picture , I might show that another time. Taken late at night..this artistically painted whimsical horse was in downtown St Joe and is titled "under the sea horse". ! I liked the colors painted on it. it sparkeled.!! .Some of you probally already know my style by now~ I like bold colors that stand out and are usually opposites on the color wheel. I did a bit of postwork on this one for the frame. I made up the dagger protuding out of the frame that wasn't there -I added it for an effect..and did jus' a small tad of my smudging LOL~! Thanks for all your time and comments... Big hugs to you all~! ♥ ~ Kimmers~!

Oh, what a lovely carousel horse and such a unique idea to create so many of them. I just adored your story about your grandparents. Carousels really are so romantic - I mean, who hasn't ridden one as a child and then later with a special person. One of my favorite movie musicals was Carousel. Wonderful photo and I do like it when you 'smudge'. V. :o) CC

You can't just tease us like that, now I want to see all 50 of them. LOL. Seriously, you could do a montage, you could do a spectacular one I'm sure. Hint, hint...I like this, especially how you've done the frame with the image extended out at the bottom. I love nostalgia and romance Kimmie, this is Excellent.
