Description

Apophysis2.02 PhotoFiltre Thanks for visiting and for all your lovely comments on previous posts, especially yesterdays as it was a venture with Styxx's art as well.As I live in the state of Washington, we are always conscious of the rumblings of Mt. St.Helens. The first big blow was 4 days after my thirtieth birthday and I was about 400 miles away but still had a couple inches of ash and it ruined my first vegatable garden, everything was pitted, lol. But what an adventure in my lifetime, wow! I know its not a big thing for those who live where this happens often but it was and still is a big thing here. Especially as it spits and blows steam and rumbles so consistantly. So this is my view and dedication to the mountain,( p.s. I am only about 90 miles this time, lol!) A couple facts from my book on the eruption- Location of MSH, an active stratovolcano, is located in southwest Washington State, USA (46.20 N by 122.18 W) approximately a 3 hour drive from Seattle, WA (90 miles) and a 2 and 1/2 hour drive from Portland, OR (65 miles). Date and Time of Eruption May 18th, 1980, 8:32 am (PDT). Eruption was triggered by a 5.1 earthquake centered beneath the mountain. Height of MSH (before & after) MSH was 9,677 feet before the eruption and 8,363 feet after. 1,314 feet was removed by the May 18th eruption.

Wow!! Dynamic, bold, bright and ful of energy Lynn! We are so lucky here in Britain, I live in Cornwall, we don't get the extremes of weather and volcanic erruptions that you experience in the US and other areas. It just rains with the occasional burst of sunshine lol.
