I have to get away from my beach-tunnel-vision, so am trying to render a few normal landscapes.

LOL the sand will always be in your head - I can't get away from beaches either!! Love the velevet feel on these surfaces. The colours are beautiful together! Maybe more of a sandy edge to your water? Still this is really BEAUTIFUL!
