I just decided to combine most of the files from my final project for the computer design class and post them here. Basically the goal was to design an information center/cafetia/student hangout at a designated place. Below is the information that explains the project more into detail: This is my project (see files). Basically what I think about it is that it is realistic in my opinion and it addresses the needs. The given area ?forgotten corner? is a nice place for it since the area is somewhat undeveloped and right next to Sheepshead Bay and Jamaica Bay. Outside there is space for the parking for the traffic that is coming from both ways. In the middle of the road and right next to the entrance is the place for the fountain, on the sides, to the edge, right next to the pylons trees can be placed. And on the sides of the building, near the entrance there are floral plants and flowers. The interior of the building is as follows by the sections: E ? Entrance. This is the entrance to the building, visitors enter and exit thru here, and they can also wait on the couch for something/someone or use the payphones to call someone. Outside of the entrance the visitors can enjoy the ocean breeze, smoke a cigarette or just relax. M ? Mess Hall. This is the dinning area of the building; it is outfitted with the central sitting area that accommodates up to 6 people and another 8 people around the walls. Trash bin is located to the entrance, fire extinguisher is nearby too for obvious reasons and floral plants are present as beautifications. During the day sunlight lights up the halls thru the 360-degree windows that are built around the top of the roof. In the evening and night the circular fluorescent lights light up the mess hall. R ? Restroom. Visitors can either: do their duty here, wash their hands, or throw out trash in the bin. Plants and curved walls make the restroom look good and pleasant to be in. K ? Kitchen. All the food and refreshments are displayed, stored and sold in the kitchen. The entrance to the inside of the kitchen is thru the counter that swings up to clear the path. H ? Information Hall. Computers with the access to the internet, booklets, pamphlets and brochures are located in here. If the visitor wishes to sit down ad relax there are 2 O-style couches in here, each can accommodate 8 persons. In the center of each couch there is a partition with 2 posters for each side. Each poster can be either a poster that has to do something with college, education, information or something of an advertisement for something. I ? Information Desk. Visitors here can request for information that they seek. The information clerk can easily look for the information on his/hers computer that is connected to the internet, then the information can be printed and given to the visitor. There is also a telephone in here. Entrance to the inside of the information desk is thru the counter that swings up to clear the path.
