Ain't found a way to kill me yet Eyes burn with stinging sweat Seems every path leads me to nowhere Wife and kids household pet Army green was no safe bet The bullets scream to me from somewhere Here they come to snuff the rooster Yeah here come the rooster You know he ain't gonna die Walkin' tall machine gun man They spit on me in my home land Gloria sent me pictures of my boy Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death My buddy's breathin' his dyin' breath Oh god please won't you help me make it through -Alice in Chains

Incredible realism - and the words to the song just brings it all home, doesn't it.

Man, I love this one. I can imagine this guy after a patrol, after the post-patrol briefing. His buddies egg him on to go get a few drinks, but he just hits the barracks. Sitting in his bunk, he lights up, not even realizing that he hasn't taken of his bloody clothes. RECOMMENDATIONS: The bump map looks a bit too severe (like that Asia image I did awhile back). And the cig smoke seems to disappear. You probably meant it to curl around his head, but realistically, where the cig is, it would flare into his face and the brim of the hat. Just some constructive criticism. I think I beat your old comment record....Fredo

there is no bump map - theres a film grain effect added, and quite a bit of desaturation, because thats the effect that i wanted. the smoke has been bugging me too (not the direction, but the fact that there should be more of it) - but keep in mind that it all has to be painted in by hand, so i cant get too wildly complex or ill lose realism. ill try to make some small changes though. thanks for the comments folks.

Wow, but the image itself is moody and complex, the words just add to that....concept art is some of my favorite stuff. But the ciggie ROCKS! Smoke is a pain in the patootie as are real tears, I still have that to figure out....The b/w grainy just sets the whole thing off.....Magic, absolute Magic!

You've done it again - this is just fantastic, right down to the slightly crumpled cigarette (last one in the pack?) and the way the smoke is pooled under the brim of his hat - you are definately an inspiration to anyone who strives for realism in their work!

This is giving me some creative inspiration...which I so sorely need. Thank you. Poppi Dang...now, if only I could find a "real world" version of him. Overwork has sorely cut into my clown posse.
