Description
Hi all:
Productive weekend on teh Jeep Project.
The guys at Eastside Custom Truck finished the welding on the lightbar and fabricating the Jerry (gas) can carrier I designed and welding it to my spare tire carrier.
The upper left photo show the lightbar in place sans driving lights. In addition, this modified OEM rear jeep bumper will HOPEFULLY help protect the steering box and linkage.
The lower left photo shows the driving lights sitting in place to give you a feel for the end result.
I'm modifying a set of tail light grommets from a commercial truck (since there are none available for those lights) to hold them there.
The gas can mount on the spare tire carrier will sit in the "L" shaped bracket, providing unimpeded visibilty of the brake/turn light on the driver side in the blind spot directly behind my high back seat and out of the way of my rear view, and also putting the can high enough to avoid most bumpers (since people seem to have this problem rear ending me).
I'm also mounting a CB radio antenna to the right hand side of the carrier (it will have to be welded--the bolts are not long enough) using a mount I fabricated today as well.
Once I install the rocker panels (I trimmed tehm to fit last weekend) to protect the body sides from rocks and stumps and figure out where I can mount the hi-lift tire jack, I should be done with the exterior.
T4V&C!
