Description

Done in Terragen, environment is blizzard surface. America's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one of the last remaining pristine and untouched places on Earth. This glittering landscape, often called America's Serengeti, is a haven for an array of wildlife, such as peregrine falcons, polar bears, and the Porcupine Caribou Herd, as well as a sacred place for the Gwich'in people, a nation of the Athabascan Native Americans. When the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was established, the American people thought this would be enough to protect it. Yet funding provisions in the budget bill have put one and a half million acres of the coastal plain, which is the biological heart of the Refuge, at risk of being overtaken by a sprawling industrial complex. A recent poll shows that 73 percent of Americans believe the decision to drill in the Arctic Refuge has no place in the budget reconciliation process. Americans recognize that drilling in the Refuge will neither solve our energy problems nor reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Most of all, Americans believe the Arctic Refuge should be off-limits to oil drilling and industrial development. Any drilling in the Refuge would mean permanent and irreparable harm to wildlife, and would betray our moral responsibility to save wild places like the Arctic Refuge for future generations. The issue of oil drilling in the Arctic Refuge is too important to the American public to be snuck through in the budget bill in an attempt to circumvent the established process. I am a Nature Lover. I have been my entire life. Today People are marching on Congress Today Sept 20 to demand , they do not vote to drill in the refuge. Write to your senators and stop them from voting on this drilling. If they drill now, we will not even see that oil for ten years. It will not help our gas prices. It will hurt our environment forever. And please even if you Do not like my Image Pass this piece along, so that someone else may see it and make up thier own mind and go to thier senator , or even to any website. Care2.com, or google up arctic refuge and you can find it. But Help we need you to Help. I thank you Mother, who is the Earth, for the life that is my body, and the life that is my consciousness, and the life that is your will also.I look upon your greatness, and the beauty of your form, and the diversity of your works, and I know that it is all of your nature.I ask and give thanks to you this dayfor the food and the health of my body, and for the awareness of your whisperings that I might know of your nature also. And I ask of you, your forgiveness, For the wrongdoings done to you, such has been the will of Man both yesterday and today. For we know now that only yours is the Earth, your will and your nature, for all time and beyond, So be it.

Rae, you may or you may not be to young to remember this. Back in the 70's we went through what they called an oil shortage we where told that the planet was running out and that if we didn't do something we would be dry in 30 years or so. The car company's started to produce 4 bangers big time no more V8 engins. Low and behold here we are in 2002 with huge SUV's with big time engins all over the place. Truth is there was never an oil shortage. The big oil company's and oil cartals wanted more greed money. Oil today is at an all time high therefore oil has to be found and extrated at all cost. Oil company's, government's, and oil cartals don't give a dame where they get it. Bottom line is they want more profits to please the share holders nature and the people be dammed. You know what, they will get there way. Too much apathy going around and they make sure that they spread the cash and lobby governments to death in order to get there way the average is powerless. Well done and well said.

I dont remember it, I was to young. But I have read it, and hear it. However there are things I know. I know compassion. I know people have a fundamental right to live on the land they and thier ancenstors have lived on for thousands of years. I know that we will not see one drop of that oil for at least 12-20 years and even then its not going to effect us at the pups but maybe by a penny a gallon. What I do know, Is that we need to find a more efficient way to use energy in this country. I am glad everybody who posted Did. I was going to go to capital hill myself yesterday. I wish I had gone. I watched the entire rally on c-span. I wish I had gone. I feel I let so many people done, for not doing more.
