Description

This is Barnabi, the newest addition to our family. I don't know how old he is...I'm going to place his age perhaps at about three weeks. I don't know much about rabbits, but having this little fella around has given me the opportunity to learn. My neighbor found him - quite literally - in the jaws of a snake, and rescued him, later calling me to ask if I could take care of the little guy. I of course was pleased, and went there as soon as I hung up and got him. If anyone knows anything about raising baby bunnies, please feel free to give some tips or send me a Rosity IM. Any help would be grand. Isn't he adorable? Thanks for viewing, comments welcome as always.

Oh this brings back memories. When we were living in Germany we found a baby rabbit that had apparantly been abandoned. We immediate adopted it, and Mom took to feeding it with a bottle. As it got a little bigger, he would come to her bed around five am and paw at the covers to get her up to come give him his bottle. We even had him paper trained. So well in fact, that one day Dad came home from work, sat down on the couch to read the even paper, and Thumper hopped up onto the paper in his lap, and er, well, demonstrated how well trained he was. When we had to move back to the States, we had give Thumper away. I still miss him. I hope Barnabi brings you as much joy!

Well, just as a sugestion, lil rabbits die mainly of a type of Lonelyness and Self stress, go out and find another baby bunny, i.e. store bought or wild, I have had plenty of personal experiences with baby bunnys, best of luck to you!! I hope you do well! And Grats on the new family member!

Your baby is beautiful! Rabbits can be litter box trained. They love chewing telephone wires and get zapped from them frequently. You'll have to watch out for that. You also want to watch out for dehydration. Pull the skin on the back up. It should snap right back down again. If it stays up, your baby is badly dehydrated. I would go to a vet right away though, just to make sure everything is ok and perhaps get some baby rabbit milk. As mentioned in the previous post, they get lonely and stressed and often die from that. Any rabbit I ever had also got stressed easily from sudden or loud noises. Best of luck with your new baby!

Awwww... Yes, he's gorgeous!! I agree on the Vet thing. Get your baby checked out asap and get him on some baby rabbit milk too. Oh, and a mate for him will help much. Let us know how he's doing will you?

Thanks, you guys, for helping me out with all this information, I'm so happy that people take the time to reply and offer their advice and suggestions. ^_^ I'll let my mother read the posts, and we'll figure out what to do with Barnabi together, since she's a big part of his rehab. We have discovered that he may, in fact, be blind. Which explains why he never saw the snake coming (his eyes were open). I'll keep you guys posted on his condition, thanks again so much for everything!

Aww - isn't that the cutest tiny bunny ever?! I won't offer any tips about raising him - but I'm sure you'll give him excellent care. Good luck (to both you and the little guy:)
