an example of hard work, attention to detail, nice posing... all blown to heck by harsh lighting and lousy postwork to attempt to fix the harsh lighting. ::sigh::

The hard work you put into this is obvious, even with the overly harsh lighting, (as you noted). Would like to see this rendered with better lighting, which I know from experience may not be possible. Still, an excellent image nonetheless...

Like Pegasus said, you hard work shows in this image, and light can either make or destroy your pic. Perhaps setting the light's shadows softer, or creating some volumetric light? I'm no expert though...

Cool costume and posing, but I see what you mean on the harsh lighting. I'm not sure how you'd fix it though, since I have zero experience with these programs. Still, not bad!

if you're viewing now, this is the old, icky version. compare to the new, improved version. ;) don't scoff when people tell you lighting is important to your 3d scene!
