Description
How boring, bland and dull it would be without our use of expression in the various multitude of tools available to us.
The argument is still debated, the traditional artist claming digital art is not art, and now your various CGI artist's that would argue because you used a pre-made model, added post work...you know what I mean here. That because it's not purely designed by you and kept within the scope of that single program it isn't true art.
I say to you, your argument is flawed. Art is simply, Expression and using whatever mediums and tools you need to share that vision, or feeling that regardless of the medium..the thought behind the image is totally pure in that it came from your mind, your imagination, your vision.
Some can make the entire scene from the model, textures etc from the ground up in a program. Other's cannot be it the time, or the knowledge. I make bread the same way everyone else does..flour, yeast, water and someone else's recipe, does that mean it is no longer bread? (If I made it yeah it becomes a brick but moving along here..)
If you really want to debate the use of pre-fabrication, any use of the human design, plant life, geometry, even a sunset or for that matter even emotion is not strictly born of you...you are using a recipe or blueprint of God's design and altering it to express a vision and feeling you have.
So they used the standard model, they used props or clothing made by another, they simply didn't throw them onto a canvas and say viola' this is art, they took time...months for many to create a scene that matched the vision they dreamed up to express themselves. It's collaborative, it's no less beautiful, in fact it's a piece of art that contains not just all the hours on this particular scene, but the hours and vision of the artist's who created the tools they used in their scene.
To you beginning artists, and even those who feel the frustrations of your hard work being minimized. Don't take to heart your work is not art, any expression of you is art. Keep doing what you do, moving, evoking and touching all of us with your beautiful scenes no matter the mediums!
To the purists, how many would be beautiful images were lost because you minimilized their efforts, their artistry and imagination and they found the Freedom to express themselves limited and simply decided not to anymore.
Encourage, don't discourage!

lol, I'd have to say that even using a pencil, pen or brushes is still using a tool of form to create something, so I use a wacom pen or a bic finepoint ink pen, either one is still my hand drawing the image. Had picasso and others created his work in digital format would have been any less? Yes, there are thousands...and perhaps not the standout that Picasso had..because there were quite a few less people in the world then. To stand out now amongst thousands yes many True artists get lost in numbers.

Well nope hun is quiete different ;=))) If you show me to be able to paint any kind of work, done in your own way, totally done from scratch... using your hands, your feets, without using ready props, ready figures and so going on...... well, there someone could think you are an artist. Let's also say something more: There are many parameters which is why a person is judged an artist o not. Is NOT true that art is beyond of the viewer, not at all. If there are artists critizen is right because art require specific things, sorry. Go reading art books you could understand why I'm saying these things. Am personally glad I did it and personally glad I've met artists, because now I really can see the difference. This doesn't mean you or others can do awesome stuff. But is right stuff. Let's others judge what's art. Others well knowing what art is.
twingo
Great words and I disagree with venerella about letting others judge what art is, because so called art critics who think they can judge what is real art don't know what they are talking about most of the time. There are painting that are judged as not veluable because they were made by students of a great master and some time later they say they were made by Rembrandt and then its real art and worth millions. Who are they kiddin'.
alexic
Ansel Adams used 'prefab', Rauschenberg used post-processing, Cindy Sherman used herself, Picasso used whatever he could get his hands on. It doesn't matter what you use, or for that matter whether a critic calls it art. What matters is how you use the materials you choose. And whether you let someone else control your instinct or trust yourself enough to just do what you feel. No one ever created art by following rules.

Thanks for your comments. I guess I kinda got defensive when I read some put down's on other artists for how they created their image and how it wasn't art...so what is it? S*** then? If it's not art then why do some of those who claim it isn't post their work or cough sputter SELL and make money or provide various props, backgrounds etc, done digitally listed under DIGITAL ART, that they claim is NOT art?? It's a mystery to me lol.

well said...if what we do here isn
t art, then someone please tell what it is, and why digital art is now one of the most popular(?)art forms now? It gives people who aren
t so great with pen and ink to be creative, and show just what they can do. Ive been an artist most of my life, and I
ve been published, so I kinda have an Idea what qualifies as art. Guess what people....all u have to do is look at just a few of the great images here and on other sits to know what you`re looking at. Nuff said. :) johnny. (yes this got me a little worked up.)Georgy
My heart goes out to those who's feelings were hurt in someway or another. They should'nt be.They should follow there hearts and dreams, and just continue doing what they love.Ditto means i'm right there with you.I think that it's only there lack of understanding what art is.There has always been arguments on what's really art?HEY is a sandcastle art YES IN MY EYES THEY ARE.

My sentiments entirely - couldn't have expressed it better than this!!! What's more, I am PROUD to be a Mixed Medium Artist! I LOVE the different elemental procedures each program produces and allows, just as God loves the use of all the elements available - even created by Him - in order to go on and on and on creating! Why, otherwise, could it happen that no two human beings are the same in every single way? Or cats, dogs, or any other living creature.....?

Whew!...this seems to go on a lot here, guilty of it myself sometimes...I take a chill-pill and get back at it,only post because I can,and I love it all!

well for me, I am totaly agree with Ed (twingo), and It's sad to talk about real artist or not here at rendo, when critic are based more than friendship than art - don't worry, make your Art, first for you, you find always person who will love and others who whill hate....

There are so many people and so many opinions . Art is simply the basic ability to express oneself . Not how you do it .You show great potential to express yourself do it anyway you can ~~~~JIMMY
