Description
This image was basically just an experiment with the Brazil renderer. I downloaded it this afternoon, and pretty much was stunned at the realism it can produce with just one light! So I had to do something with it, and here it is - poor little R2-D2 traversing the wastes of Tattooine once again. Some of you may recognise the R2-D2 model, it's been available at the SWMA for some time.. just to clear things up, yes, I am the original creator, I haven't just gone and done the lazy thing and rendered someone else's model :) Not much else to say about this one really.. background done with Terragen.. and that's it, I'll be quiet now :)

Excellent render. Love the terrain and the atmosphere you have created. Good modeling on the ard2 unit. Well done. ---- Scott.

odeathoflife
very nice, is brazil demo available?
bonbon
this looks even better than the movie!!! awesome job!
draculaz
R2 doesn't quite seem realistic against the background. don't get me wrong, it's almost perfect... but R2 seems more plastic than metal because of the lighting...
Oktavian
I agree with draculaz.
rkamil
Solid! Any more real than this would ruin the effect. More please..
TimZig3000
wow, thats an excelent scene!

nice.... if u added track that would also be kinda cool, but definitly not needed, its awesome!

looks really great. and who says that the r2d2 unit is made from metal? maybe they use kevlar or some sort of plastic :-) even the gi artifacts look great on this image, they make the r2 looks dirty. but i have one question: the model on swma was imho made by Dr.Harry Chang and a reworked model was made by JosLuis Mart, but your name is Andreas Holz? thats a little confusing to me. no offense im just curious.
weewoo
Spinoza - Harry Chang did the great little low poly R2, but I don't seem to recall one by JosLuis Mart.. if it's more detailed than mine then it looks like I've been replaced for a newer model, eh? Ah well. Thanks for the great comments people! :)

Woa! great work! You'd swear it's from one of the movies. :o)

This is perfect! I am an AVID Star Wars buff (or fanatic, your choice) And this looks like its straight out of ILM's effects house

Where's the other sun?
weewoo
malfunkshun - umm..er.. they're both so close together all you see is one big light blur ;)
jlserr
Ok, it's always a pleasure to see work from a galaxy far far away... but i'm agree with malfunkshun, there's another sun, one is in terregen, but it's a wrong angle with your sun in max... anyway... wonderful work! :) Jose Luis

great r2d2!!!
robtwilly76
great job! I can almost hear r2's whistles and beeps! the idea for tracks is a great idea! you ought to place r2 in that canyon where the jawas cought him, and put in a few of their glowing eyes. You ought to show george lucas this! oh, also another idea: model some heads for the other r-series astrodroid, like r3 (more or less a clear plastic r2 head), r4 (the droid in the beginning of the original "starwars" with a cone shaped head,) and r5 (the "red" droid next to r2 in the original "starwars".) Keep up the great work, and may the force be with you!

from a Starwars fan, this work should be on film also.
