Description

This is a transient view of an area of Mesa Verde. A devastating fire cleared the area of foliage a few years ago, but the grass and brush are growing back, and before long new trees will be shooting up. But for now I like the bright green of the grass spotted with the heat-bleached rocks, all pit against the sky which is exceptionally blue at these altitudes. (sorry if you're dozing off now...) Anyway, I'm not really sure I'm satisfied with the composition here. Seems to be incomplete, or maybe a bit unbalanced. Any suggestions on how you might have composed this differently, or how it could be improved? Thanks for any comments!

well being satisfied with ones own work is something l find hard.. but you sure have given the transcending observer perspective.. love the artistic symetrics to the trees and rocks.. and the sky is beautiful.. youve seen it with your heart and thats what counts..:)..:)) beautiful

Stunning to see nature's resilience illustrated so well in these greens! Terrific work! The position of the clouds is maybe not that perfect, but hey, one cannot change that (unless you have a giant cloud-blower LOL)!

Great shot of hills and fluffy clouds. I agree with you, it looks incomplete becuase there is no central/focus subject here. Maybe a person or a tree that was taller than the rest could have worked. Simmilary a touch of a contrasting colour (red) on the scene could have worked also.

Well John this is a fascinating shot, my friend Jan Carl (jcv2) wrote about nature's resilience, I had the same thinking in my head... Always sad when a forest burn but what we see here is the rebirth of the nature that has been hardly hurt here!

It would be cool to go back every 10 years and capture the growth. Wonderfully blue sky.

mounds of green bleached with glowing rocks makes for a nice composition...puffy clouds of course noted for aesthetic proliferation...my old screen name used to be bleachfix, which is quite obsure by now.

I dont agree with the incomplete thoughts :) I think its a very artistic & splendid compo....and the loss of humans or a bigger tree..makes it a bit surreal...I like it Very much!!!...perhaps....don't know...I had tried to crop... away a tiny little bit of the blue sky.....but I'm not sure :)
