Photographer, graphic designer, teacher.
Started photographing with film. Discovered the Mac and worked as a graphic designer. Got hooked again on photography when I went digital in 1999. Now I have two passions (three if you include family).
Look, enjoy, come back again.

BIOPhotographing since the age of 7 (My father got me a Kodak Brownie by opening a new bank deposit).
Had my own darkroom at about age 13 (in the bathroom over the tub).
Got my first 35mm camera when I was 18 (Olympus Pen EE--half frame).
BS in Biology and Education.
Got a job in a NYC high school.
Started doing freelance.
Built a permanent B&W darkroom in my apartment in Brooklyn.
MFA in Art & Design and Photography.
Had my first one person show.
Still freelancing: advertising, actor portraits, corporate art collections, stills to NBC Nightly News and the Today Show. Really, anything I could get.
Added color processing and printing to my darkroom.
Apple introduced the Macintosh computer and it was love at first click. Used it to catalog and track my growing portfolio.
Started designing brochures, flyer and other material for my freelance business. People started asking me if I could do the same for them too. I said yes.
Started freelance graphic design.
Teach photography at the 92nd St. Y in NYC.
Married Maria!
My daughter Sami was born! Stayed home with her for a few years and organized my freelancing into a graphic design business (now called Creative Design Studio).
Photography was pushed aside (but not totally abandoned).
My son Adam was born! Got my first digital camera (coincidentally, another Olympus which I still use occasionally with an underwater housing).
Interest in photography is reborn: shooting all the time again (working on the computer while looking out the window at trees and water vs in the darkroom, in the basementno-brainer).
Retired from the school system.
Continued doing graphic design but doing photography every chance I can get.
Added Mac consultation/troubleshooting to my repertoire (some people do crossword puzzles, other people solve computer problems).
Currently, in addition to the above, I'm putting material together for publication and new exhibitions.
Current equipment used: Nikon D200, Nikon D-70, 18-200mm VR, 1870mm, 28200mm, 70300mm, 500mm mirror reflex, LensBaby, 2X converter and a new extension tube set, as well as Apple Macs, PhotoShop CS2.
Wishlist: 70-200mm /2.8, 10.5mm fisheye, 50mm /1.4, 80-400mm VR and a 500 or 600mm super-telephoto, Macbook Pro.

I love it! The sepia tones...the "attitude" on the preying mantis. Everything works!

That is one wicked looking praying mantis. I always hated those things when I was a kid. Great shot though. Makes him come alive...too alive.
