Description

A slightly better test from near my home town of Ararat, with an old photo for comparison... and with the obligatory Mt Abrupt included to the left. The detail of the SRTM data is fine at distances of 10km or more, but it's still quite reasonable closer up.

I like the panorama idea alot, IMHO You could play around with the landscape textures to simulate some patches of trees and vegetation at least close to what's in the actual photo and the render could be a little bigger; really great job.

I agree with majikart, the panorama ratio is excellent. Not enough Terragen artists use this as often as they should. It stands to reason that if you're creating a landscape then you should use the window ratio that give you the best feel for your subject. Nine times out of ten it's going to be "panoramic".

With Terragen, the best you can ever do is shoot from the hip when it comes to "realism". Very nice shooting! Perhaps just some erosional detail on the distant mountians for more kick, but I'd say you are on the mark!

I haven't run any of the terrains through World Machine yet for a bit of erosion. That's next on the list ;-)
