Description

Many have asked to see the MojoWorld rendering of the ichthyosaurs, in its raw form, pre-Photoshop. We made many renderings, this is close to the final MW output, if not exactly it. Our original plan was to use one MW file for the underwater parts, and another for the above-water terrain. Looks like it was the above-water parts that Chris reworked the most in PS. Which is fine by me--the point was to get the dinosaurs to look right under water, not to get the terrain right. I, personally, put almost zero time into the above-water parts, other than getting the atmospherics right to get the right sense of scale and a good sky-reflection/underwater balance on the water surface. That I put much time and work into. :-) Oh, and many of the underwater colors we used were out of gamut for printing; hence the very different and toned-down water color in the final, PS-processed image. Enjoy!

Hey Doc, thanks for this! BTW, did you ever post this world (for the 'highly-recommended' water)? If so, might I ask where? I can see now that the terrain is less impressive in its original state, but water IS DEFINITELY 'da bomb' Who built your ichthyosaurs, by the way?

Chris contracted some studio to model the 'saurs. I haven't posted the planet yet, because there are so many, and they reside on my old laptop, which I recently retired. Whenever I think of it, I'm somewhere where that laptop is not... :-) "I'll get to it." And yes, you only want this world for its water and (maybe) its atmosphere.

That's just fantastic - and hardly worthy of so few comments... This is beautiful work - and you can actually feel the skin of the fish in the water - you can feel how cold the water is - and smell the air - you have put us there.
