Description

Todays's pic is dedicated to one of my student from 26 years ago. His name is Tony DiTerlizzi. If you're a parent of kids between the ages of 5 thru 18, you might already have some of Tony's work. I had Tony in 5th grade back in 1979. He was into drawing dinosaurs back then. I encouraged his art as did many of his other teachers and friends. Well today he is one of the top story illustrators and children's books authors. He started off illustrating for Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering. He also illustrated many other games and magazines. He wrote and illustrated his first children's book JIMMY ZANGWOW'S OUT OF THIS WORLD MOON PIE ADVENTURE. The character in my pic today reminds me of Jimmy Zangwow. Tony next wrote and illustrated a kids book called TED and then won a Caldecott award for the book SPIDER AND THE FLY. His biggest and probably best know work is a series called THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES. A story of how three kids deal with fairies, elves, goblins etc...most elementary and middle school kids are probably familiar with this series. click herefor Tony's website. There, you will find everything there is to know about Tony. It's success stories like this that made my teaching career worth while. If you're a parent of young readers, check Tony's books out. They are truly wonderful, you and your kids will enjoy them. Thanks for viewing,,,,Ray ENJOY TODAY

I love the vibrant colorization you added onto the statue! The whole composition is fantastic. This should be in a children's book! You should be very proud of your influence on Tony. Congratulations, Ray. (I will bookmark Tony's website.)

You know Tony? Wow. He went to the Art Institute, a few years before I was there. I was a big kid, and remember enjoying his work for D&D and for various gaming card games. I have not read his children's books, though I looked through the Spider and the Fly at B&N. Congrats to you for helping to nurture this talent that has touched so many. =]
