*No Postwork* Today is a very sad day for us here in Guatemala :( there has been a disaster similar to Katrina in some places... :( I have a girl working in my house, she takes care of my kids and she received a call last night... her brother told her they lost everything because the water level of the river that passed behind their house went up and took everything with it :( one of her sisters had a 2 weeks old baby and he was taken too :( now roads are closed and she can't even get there to see how her 2 and 4 years old daughters are... it is desperating and I am living this through her :( it feels terrible. I found something about it in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/06/international/americas/06stan.html EDITED: I learned about sending used clothes and stuff to Guatemala and it would cost a fortune because even if it is to help this people they have to charge taxes and those are very high :( the only way of avoiding taxes would be sending it through the Guatemalan embassy. I deeply thank the people that were willing to help us help these people but we won't be able to do it this way... we will buy some clothes and ask some friends here in Guatemala to help us and we will hopefully have something to take them. Those are EXTREMELY poor families that worked for generations all their lifes to have what they had and now everything's gone :( Thanks from the heart! *Alejandra*

My dear comadre, i share this tragedy in a very close way, cause the south of mexico run the same fate, as you well stated, the most damaged comunities are always the most poor people. In Chiapas, Veracruz and Oaxaca states entire comunites where devastated with an uncanny fury, no time to run or hide, even now we dont know the real devasting proportions of the tragedy. here is a link for the latest news (english) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4314088.stm we must do our best for all this people in our countries they need a lot of support! a very touching image, image! hugs!

Wonderful dedication, very sad that so many have to suffer... My heart goes out to all in whatever country!! More and more I'm starting to wish I had talents usefull to some of these organizations that try to help people in these situations..

I read of this tragedy Ale. It is horrible. My heart goes out to the people. I always donate to Red Cross and hope this will help the people. So many have suffered.

Oh what a sad tragedy, Ale! Unbelievable to hear about damages and tragedies in Guatemala! My thoughts and prayers are with you, your nanny and her family. I'm sooo sorry about! Aleja, I appreciate so much your putting such a great work for helping those poor people who lost everything due to nature disastare... I also like to help people and one of the things that is so painful for me recently because it takes so much time to handle the terrible things I have to handle I do not have much time left to help other people as I did in the past... Manita que hermosa imagen pero muy triste, de verdad lamento mucho todo lo que esta pasando no solo alla en donde vives sino en todas partes, hace dias igual aqui tambien hubo muchas inundaciones y muchisimas gentes se quedaron sin hogar, duele el corazon en pensar en todo eso, en la imagen se refleja la tristeza y el dolor que se lleva dentro, Otra fantastica y Magnifica pieza de arte!!!!!!
