Description

Pt Reyes is a fascinating area just the other side of the earthquake fault which helps to delineate California. Sir Francis Drake laid his heavily-laden ship (the Golden Hind) up on one of the beaches here in order to repair her hull. It was probably not this nice secluded cove, but the beach you can see beyond (bigger, safer, more protected from spying eyes)... after all, there isn't much more vulnerable than a pirate sitting on an upended ship! We'd walked out to Chimney Rock on the trail which lies on the top of these cliffs, this is the view looking back. In a few more decades (or one good earthquake), this place, too, will be isolated from the mainland. Sometimes solid rock seems pretty precarious.

cynlee... if you come out this way, let me know! We can have a Bay Area photo gathering and hike somewhere interesting. It would be fun and inspirational to see these places through each others' eyes.
